A male carer from Birmingham or Worcestershire is needed for a young man with severe autism. 7-14 and 24 hours shifts. Full and Part-time.
Support a young man (23 years old) with Autistic Spectrum Disorder living on his own (24hr support – 2 to 1 support day time and 1 to 1 at night) in a bungalow.
He can talk and understand spoken language but only in a limited capacity. This can lead to him becoming anxious and exhibiting challenging behaviours. Part of the role will be to manage his anxiety with support from his experienced care team.
He is physically able and this role will involve helping him through teaching and guidance to undertake his own self care and housekeeping whilst at home and to partake in both fun and work-like activities away from home. He has a Motability vehicle for his use. The role will involve providing housekeeping, cooking, shopping and personal care although the objective will always be for this young man to learn to do all tasks himself. His physical and mental state will have to be monitored as he is unable to explain any issues himself.
